SLOW BALBOA
Intermediate/Advanced
You have attended SlowBal classes or workshops before. You are comfortable with the basic steps and close connection. You can lead/follow the rhytmical repetitons of slows, quicks and triplets. You are looking for new challenges to enrich your SlowBal.
BALBOA
Intermediate
You have a solid foundation in Balboa basics, including Pure-Bal and Bal-Swing. You’re familiar with Down-hold and Up-hold basic steps (single and double time), Out-Ins, Come-around, Toss-/Throw-out, and Lolly Kicks. You’ve taken classes for at least a year, feel comfortable with medium tempos, and can lead or follow moves like Crab Walks, Side Steps, Paddle Turns, and various Throw Outs. You are eager to enhance your technique, transitions, flow, and musicality, and work on more complex figures and rhythmical variations.
Advanced
You dance Pure-Bal and Bal-Swing comfortably at 175-225 bpm and master a variety of basic and advanced steps, including variations. You regularly attend lessons, social dances, and international workshops. You can handle any tempo, from slow to very fast, and quickly learn new moves and footwork. Your dancing incorporates rhythms, shapes, and fancy moves, and you often add styling and variations. You focus on musicality, partnership, creativity, and continually improve your technique.
LINDY HOP
Intermediate
You have been dancing for 1-3 years. You regularly attend classes and social dance events. You know many moves and use variations in your dancing. You can comfortably dance at 110-200 beats per minute. You are no stranger to musicality and improvisation. You want to learn new figures and improve your leading/following technique. You also want to add more variations and rhythms to your dancing and express yourself better musically.
Advanced
You have been dancing for more than 3 years. You are comfortable with variations and rhythms. You can comfortably dance in different tempos. 200 and more beats per minute is not a problem for you.
You want to do more than figures and want to work on advanced technique, musicality and improvisation.
At the Level Group determination, it will be considered with your partner’s level as well.
If you have registered with the partner with a significantly different level than yours, the organizer will usually assign a lower level of dancer to the pair.
In case the registered partners wish to participate in a different group, we recommend to contact the organizer who checks the balance of the leaders-followers and lets know if that is possible.
